We began our journey westward this morning, crossing into the Central time zone about an hour outside of Knoxville. We traveled through the southern end of the Cumberland Mountains, past the musical mecccas of Nashville and Memphis, and reached Little Rock, Arkansas this evening.
High heat and humidity no doubt account for the dense greenery and almost tropical atmosphere. Even with the motorhome's AC on full blast, we were schvitzing all afternoon. As soon as we pulled into the RV park and finished setting up we took cold showers and cold drinks to reduce our core temperatures.
Western Tennessee and eastern Arkansas are beautiful; but, like my martinis, I like my heat dry!
