Eddy’s sister Renee and her husband Helmut are the hosts with the most. Since we arrived on Monday night for a week-long visit they have made us feel totally at home in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Even though Ed and Renee chat on the phone every week they haven’t seen each other in two years, and it’s been a very happy reunion. Ed’s niece Arlene is also delighted to see her favorite uncle and between managing her real estate business and horse farm, she has been making as much time available as she can for us.
So we’ve been spending our days reminiscing, getting to know each other, laughing, telling stories and enjoying lovely meals at their home. Last night friends Gunter and Lotte joined us for a hearty German style dinner…followed by shots of Jagermeister, toasts and oom pah pah songs.
The Southern hospitality with a German/Polish/South American twist is lively and warming, and I am grateful that Eddy’s family has welcomed me into their “circle of trust”.

oooo, what fun!!! The German food sounds wonderful, not to mention the hospitality. Has Ed put his feet up, some? hugs, Michaela
sounds so fun!
just remember: cats don't have opposable thumbs.
Yes, Michaela, Ed is resting for a week and putting his feet up! And we're both looking forward to massages when we return! He's had a little sciatic distress from so much driving and in tomorrow's post I'll tell you about my aches and pains.
Glad you got the Meet the Parents reference, Aralena. We're meeting Arlene's new beau on Saturday and Ed told her to tell him that her uncle, the exotic plant dealer, wants to show him the motorhome. He asked her if he would have to go into the basement. He blends.
"First comes love. Then comes...the interrogation."
gros bisous!
